How to Achieve the Right Self Image for Achievement

Kitten lion

Firstly, what is self image?
Self image is the way that you see yourself: the image or mental picture that you have of yourself. It may be based on physical attributes as well as being based on stored information from experiences throughout life and the retention of criticism and judgment from others as well as ourselves.
Here are some of the signs of a poor self image:
• Timidity and shyness
• Social isolation
• Aggression which may be displayed through language or a physical response when feeling fearful
• A lack of confidence
• A lack of motivation
• Putting yourself below others or feeling that you are not as good, worthless or useless.
• Self talk that is critical of oneself.
A poor self image may be the result of accumulated criticism that a person has received throughout their life but self image can not essentially be caused by anyone else without your permission.
Only we have the ability to control our thoughts and the way we perceive ourselves.
One way of overcoming a poor self image is to use the natural law of relativity for us and not against us. Things are only relative to each other by the meaning we give to them. ie: good and bad,  high and low.
If you are consciously aware that you are putting yourself down or comparing yourself in a negative way to someone else or even allowing another person’s opinion of you to influence the way you think about yourself then you also have the ability to change those thoughts towards something that will lift you up and allow you to realise your potential.
Every person, including YOU is a unique and special creation with different strengths and abilities.
Focus on the things that make you different, the things you are good at and your strengths. See your “differentness” as an asset not a liability. There is no one else like you!!
Another way of improving a poor self image and giving you the right image for achievement is to let go of past errors or mistakes. Feeling guilt about something you did or something that happened in the past is never going to help you move forward. The past is the past! You can’t change it so you may as well put that baggage aside and press forward towards a new goal.
There are always going to be circumstances that happen in your life; that try to keep you where you are, to take hold of you and to stop you from progressing forward.
BUT, every person including YOU has a great ability to overcome, to take a stand and to pursue a worthy goal. If you would like the right self image for achievement give yourself a purpose, a mission or a goal to work towards – stay focused and press towards that target.
If you make a mistake, allow it, let it go and keep moving forward.
As it says in the song “Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!”

Ideas Without Implementation Are Useless

Action Plan Feature size

I know I have mentioned these words in previous articles and other documents that I have written but it never ceases to amaze me how time continues to pass people by while they sit on their ideas and do nothing to make them happen.

• They sit in a messy office with paperwork all over the place saying “ I need to tidy this up”
• They think they would like a website for their business but they never do anything about it
• They have a great idea for their business but they don’t know how to make it happen so they do nothing
• They want to write a book but don’t know where to start or they think the job is too hard
• They want to create a new product for their business but they never do

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH………Do you know anyone like this?
Procrastination is a killer! As the great Napoleon Hill states in Think and Grow Rich “procrastination is the habit of putting off until tomorrow matters that should have been done last year”
It makes up one of the key symptoms of a fear of poverty and according to Hill and “that is just a state of mind, nothing else” Napoleon goes on to say that “it is sufficient to destroy ones chances of achievement in any undertaking. This fear paralyses the faculty of reason, destroys the faculty of imagination, kills off self reliance, undermines enthusiasm, discourages initiative, leads to uncertainty of purpose, encourages procrastination, wipes out enthusiasm and makes self control an impossibility” WOOOAH!!
Is that what you want for your life or your business??
I know I certainly don’t.
Do you really want to have a breakthrough in your business?
Do you have a regular flow of income?
Are you the only person who can get things done?
Do you have enough time to get all the things you want done each day?

Do You Have The Right Mindset to Succeed?

Thinking man bubble feature size

This question one of the most important things you could ask in relation to your business and your life in general.

If you get a very clear understanding about how your mind works and how important the way you think effects everything around you then you have the ability to create whatever you want in your life including your business.

As you may already understand your mind thinks in pictures or images. Think of a dog? What comes into your mind? An image of your dog, a black and white furry animal, a cute little fluffy creature?

When you are really little and before parts of your mind are fully developed you get pictures or images and ideas from everyone around you like your parents, teachers or relatives. You don’t get to choose if they are right or not; they just go into the part of your mind that stores all of your habits and beliefs (called the sub-conscious mind)

Just imagine two segments of an orange. Like this:

Θ
Imagine that the line running through the middle from one side to the other is like a sieve or a screen with holes in it. Let’s pretend that this image represents your mind and is located in every cell throughout your body. Before you are old enough to question things which is usually around 9-12 years of age most of the things that your parents or teachers tell you go straight through the holes in the screen into the bottom half or the subconscious part of your mind.

Every idea or image that goes into this section becomes the things that run your life and make you the person you are; like the beliefs you have about things like money or business. Your habits or the way that you do things are also formed here.

Imagine the days when people would pan for gold or use screens to sift for other precious stones. If the holes in the screen are too big everything falls to the bottom even the useless and worthless pieces of rock.

Well, in a way this is what can happen before you are old enough to reason or question things. All the ideas and beliefs fall into your subconscious mind even if they are useless and worthless and won’t help you in your life.

To add to this you also have the sub-conscious part of your mind. This is the part of your mind that stores your feelings and emotions. When you have a feeling about something it causes you to act.

Just say that when you were little a spider crawled up onto your bed while you were lying on it and your Mum walks in and screams and then she removes her shoe and flicks the spider off the bed. You might get a certain feeling about that! It all depends on your reaction at that time. Quite honestly when you are little you probably didn’t have any fear of spiders but if you had a Mum who reacted like this to spiders you may have stored a certain reaction or feeling in your subconscious mind. If that’s the case (and it doesn’t have to be) then every time you see a spider for the rest of your life you will get the same feeling and react in the same way. All the cells in your body have set up a related chemical response and receptiveness to that feeling and so you act in accordance, you scream and want to destroy that spider.

Essentially every circumstance in your life is a direct result of what you have stored in your subconscious. Another way to explain this is that the subconscious mind holds all the programs that get run according to the stimulus of an experience. Like the fear of spiders causing a fear response.

The great part about our mind is that we also have a section of our mind called the conscious mind. For the sake of an image pretend that is the part at the top of the orange.

This part of the mind allows us to choose. It has the ability to accept or reject ideas, images or thoughts.

What you want to do is use this ability to make the holes in the screen smaller and only let the precious gems through. The precious gems are the images, ideas and thoughts that are beneficial to you and will help you get closer to your goal. And, how do you do this?

By only putting images or ideas into the subconscious that are going to help you in your life and your business; Things that are going to support your goals.

So, how do you know what pictures or ideas are already there?

Well, we don’t actually know exactly what is there but if the results in your life or your business are not what you want them to be then something is wrong.

Look at the example of the spider again. If you scream and want to kill a spider every time you see one then you obviously have some fear related to spiders stored in your subconscious mind. You are not born with that fear and…..

There are only two ways to change it:

1. The first one is massive emotional impact. Something that is so emotional that you make a split second decision to change. For example a family member is killed in an accident and you decide never to go in a car again.
2. The only other way is to change the pictures in the subconscious. Get rid of some of the useless rocks and replace them with only gold and precious stones. Imagine that spiders are just small hairy things that are doing a great job in our ecosystem. Grab a jar and place it inside take it outside and let the spider go back to what it does best.

Now, I want you to take some time to think about what you really want for your business. Is everything just the way you want it or could there be some limiting beliefs that are stored in your subconscious mind that are holding you back?

I want you to think about what you really, really want; right down to the finest details. You need to be very clear and exact. Here are some action steps you can follow and if you still don’t seem to be getting the results you want for your business or your life give me a call or email and I can work with you to keep you accountable and on track towards being the best person you can be? Natalie@organisedforyou.com.au or 0409 989 251

Here are some Action Steps:

Decide exactly what you want. Write it down – Be very clear
Emotion – attach emotion to the results you want. Feel what it would be like to have already achieved those results.
Accept or Reject – As other thoughts pop into your head decide if they support you in achieving your goals or if they are limiting beliefs that you have stored in your subconscious mind. If they are not supporting you, let them go and focus on something that is going to help you move closer to your goals.
Repetition – Focus on your Ideal Vision every day until it becomes a reality.

7 Habits of High Achievers

7 Habits of High Achievers

1. High achievers have a plan for what they want to achieve. They have a big vision or a big picture of how they want their business and life to be. They set goals and objectives to achieve their vision and they adjust them accordingly to stay on track. Do you have a written list of what you would like to achieve each day?
2. High achievers regularly clear up and de-clutter so they have a good ordered space to work in and to live in. Clutter can cause people to become disorganised. Being organised is often wrongly equated to neatness but organisation is being able to easily retrieve items. If your work space is cluttered and piled up with unfiled paperwork and an endless stack of notes a professional organiser can help you to get on top of things and back on track to achieve your best.
3. High achievers take action. When they have ideas they take steps to implement them. Ideas without implementation are useless. You don’t have to action every idea but you must take action on some. Action is a sign of faith: it demonstrates that you are confident and willing to “have a go”. If you don’t take action nothing will happen. Think about some of the ideas you have put aside for years like writing that book or getting that product made and take effective action today.
4. High achievers are persistent. They don’t give up when they are presented with a challenge. Persistent people keep trying until they find a way around a problem. The journey towards a goal is never going to be straight so be persistent and you must eventually get to where you want to be. As the fish character Dory says in the movie Nemo “Just keep swimming”
5. High achievers have a balanced lifestyle. They take regular breaks, well deserved holidays and spend valuable time with loved ones. They eat well and exercise regularly and pursue other hobbies that help them to become well rounded individuals.
6. High achievers don’t try and do everything them self. They delegate some of the tasks they may not be as proficient in or surround them self with people who have different strengths. They value the contribution of a team. Remember Henry Ford? he was often criticised for being uneducated but he surrounded himself with a team of experts and developed the V8 engine previously thought impossible.
7. High achievers share their knowledge and wisdom. They help their staff and others around them by sharing what they know and enabling others. They get their knowledge on paper; write procedures so that others can learn from their experience and so they are not the only person in a business who is capable of completing a task.

Turning Fear Into Freedom

peak performance

Your first response to any thoughts you have is always going to be governed by your limbic system. The limbic system in your brain controls your emotions and most of the habits and beliefs you have are set by this very fact because emotion has been involved and influenced your subconscious mind.
If you have fears about something such as marketing your business or implementing a new idea or even talking to another business owner about a joint venture the best way to overcome that fear is to attach emotion to the outcome you would really like to achieve and to do so in a positive and inspiring way.
We discussed in the first part of the article how fear can manifest as procrastination or a lack of enthusiasm or any myriad of signs that hold you back from doing what you really want to do.
In order to have a breakthrough in your business, to write that book you have always talked about or to implement that idea you first need to create a picture or an image of exactly what that looks like and more importantly how that result will make you feel.
Then, you need to hold your focus on that new image no matter what else is going on around you and until it becomes a reality.
Now, this is not going to be easy and according to Wallace Wattles book The Science of Getting Rich it is one of the hardest thing a human has to do “to think the truth regardless of the appearance” but this is one of the only ways we are able to overcome some of our lifelong habits and beliefs and to create new pathways in the wiring of our brains and therefore create new ways of thinking to achieve new results.  The only other way is to have what is called a sudden paradigm shift and this usually happens after massive trauma such a as a car accident or negative Doctors report which makes you completely shift your focus to a new idea such as never driving again or not smoking.
Remember, the first thought you have will always be governed by emotion and the limbic system or whatever beliefs you are holding in your subconscious mind. If that belief is fear based and not helping you to move closer to your goal you just need to be aware of it and how it makes you feel. Allow the feelings and the thoughts because that is ok then consciously change your thoughts to the ideal image you have created to achieve your desires. Your feelings will respond and help drive you into action.
Persistence is then the key as well as a helping hand and support from those who will lift you up and keep you accountable and moving forward. I love to help people achieve their goals and have the breakthroughs everyone deserves so if you need a coach to keep you on track you can email me at Natalie@organisedforyou.com.au to request a FREE 30 min session.

Is Fear Stopping You From Having a Breakthrough?

man with box on head

The only thing that really holds us back from achieving everything we want to achieve in our life and business is ourselves. I’ve attended several personal development, business and wealth creation seminars over the years as both a staff member and an attendee and the majority of the audience members either have a business of their own or they would like one. They are often searching for ways to have a breakthrough in their life or in their business.
As humans we are always looking for more and for opportunities to grow. In fact, we are either growing or disintegrating. Nothing stays the same but the choice is up to us to determine which direction we are heading in.
Everyone is also somewhat of an entrepreneur at heart. We want to take risks but fear can hold us back. We inherently want to expand and live a fuller life. We are born creators with all the faculties of the mind ready and waiting for us to help others with our ideas, invent new things, write books and music and to make our lives and those around us better including having breakthroughs in business.
But, often the ideas and dreams we have are never fulfilled and the sole cause of this is fear. One of the fears described by Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich is a fear of poverty. He says “this fear paralyses the faculty of reason, destroys the faculty of imagination, kills off self reliance, undermines enthusiasm, discourages initiative, leads to uncertainty of purpose, encourages procrastination, wipes out enthusiasm and makes self control an impossibility” (Hill, 2003 Random House)
It is impossible to have breakthroughs in business if you hold this fear. The challenge is that most of us don’t know where the fear came from or how to get rid of it. We probably inherited it before we reached the age of reason (9-12 years). It has been deeply rooted in our subconscious mind from the various experiences we have had during or lives.
If you are having any challenges with your business or you would like to start a business, write a book or implement an idea or just keep your head above water and you have any of the symptoms of fear there is a key to turn things around. Fear is something that is in your head and the only way to change the way it is affecting your life or your business is to use your thoughts to turn it around. Continued in the next post….

Do you Have a Space That Looks Like This?

Before Photo of Cluttered Garage

Two weeks ago I flew up to NSW to help a lady on the Central Coast to de-clutter parts of her unit after she had moved from a large family home into a much smaller space. Having been used to such a large space for most of her life and having a great passion for art and craft my client was having difficulty deciding how to utilise and maximise the space she now has as well as being able to access and use all of her art materials.

It was a great pleasure for me to find out what she wanted to achieve and how she wanted to use the space and I set about doing what I do and love best to de-clutter, arrange and tidy the space so it became usable again.

Often people can become overwhelmed by such a large task. Things can start to pile up and it can very quickly get out of hand. This then adds to the overwhelm and makes it more difficult for a person to be able to see how it is possible to break the task down into smaller ones.

That’s where I love to help. If you’ve ever said to yourself “I’ll get to it later”

BUT, you never have……………………………….I would love to help you.

One really important thing I like to say is that we are all good at different things. We are not all born with the same talents and abilities and I think we have a responsibility to help each other out in areas that we may have weaknesses

I just happen to be very good at organising and I get a great deal of satisfaction and fulfilment by helping others to reclaim space that they would love to use. I don’t judge anyone and my intentions are all about helping my client to get what they want without feeling pressured or overwhelmed.

If you would like help to de-clutter a space or to organise anything else that will help you to move forward in a positive way contact me now at Natalie@organisedforyou.com.au. I am located in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne but as you can see from my story above I am happy to come to you if I can help you to live a more clutter free life.

It’s funny because as I write this I think about the Maxwell Maltz series of videos that I put on a previous post. He talks about how all Humans have an inbuilt mechanism for success but we need to get rid of all the backgorund noise and the clutter in our mind for it to work properly and propel us forward. I think it is the same with a Physical space. If you have clutter all around you it makes it difficult to function properly. You can’t find things and your life may not flow as easily as it has the potential to. Let me help you get organised so you can more easily flow in life.

Read what my client Melina had to say about my service:

The clutter and mess created by the stuff in my home was getting me down. The task of organising things always overwhelmed me and I could never settle even by dividing all the clean up into smaller tasks.  Natalie Pearson came to my rescue. She tackled organising my cupboards with gusto. Her process is thorough and considered. I am overjoyed with the results. My craft items are accessible with like things stored together. Paperwork has been filed and my pantry and kitchen cupboards are wonderful. Natalie’s efforts have freed up space for me and my home is easier to clean. I have no hesitation in recommending “Organised For You” and its manager Natalie Pearson for any organising task, whatever your needs may dictate. She is a capable, efficient worker who gets results quickly.

Yours sincerely Melina Morris. Central Coast N.S.W. 15/03/2011.

Small Business Breakthrough – Unlock the Door to a Better Life

4 Part Interview with Dr Maxwell Maltz

Watch this series of videos of Interviews with Dr Maxwell Maltz about his 1960′s book Pscycho Cybernetics to learn that:

You have a self image and you can improve it.
You have a success mechanism inside you which you can steer towards a productive goal
You can use your imagination constructively or destructively.

This is the first of 4 videos – I would recommend you watch all 4.

It is your opinion of yourself which counts!!

Learning By Experience & Taking the Road Less Travelled

shutterstock_10967935

I studied Robert Frost for English in my final year at high school and I thought I understood things then (as you tend to do as adolescents) My Year 12 English teacher  read this poem aloud to our class and I’ve never forgotten that moment. I’d like to share it with you now.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveller, long I stood

And looked down as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And perhaps having the better claim,

 Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that, the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

 Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –

I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Sometimes we do stuff in life because everyone else is doing it. We take the same path as everyone else because it seems comfortable and doesn’t make us stand out or seem different. We take the easy option.

Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt since hearing this poem at High School are:

  •  It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of me. Someone mentioned the quote “What someone else thinks of you is none of your business” at one of the first personal development seminars I attended. Every time I have any doubts about what others are thinking of me I think of that saying and I forget about it and get on with being me.
  •  I have been born with my own unique talents and abilities and I am capable, just as anyone else is to achieve whatever I set my mind to and if that means I have to take the road less travelled then I’m willing to take the chance.
  •  One of the most significant things I learnt and one of my biggest light bulb moments was realising that I had to get out of my comfort zone and have new experiences. No one knows how something is going to work out before they start. Robert Frost’s persona in The Road Not Taken didn’t know what he would meet using the path that hadn’t been taken.

Take some risks…….You don’t know what will happen unless you try and if you stuff up you let go, get on with it and try again.

How many of you make excuses, convince yourself that you can’t do something, retract from company rather than join in or simply don’t do something because you are frightened about what someone else will say or that you won’t be good enough?

We all do!

It’s called fear and too many of us (All of us) let it run our lives to the point of not living our lives.

So, how do we become fearful and how to we overcome it?

If you only have a level of understanding about a limited number of experiences the only way you will get a broader range of experiences is by experience.

Essentially you MUST experience things to know them. Most of us are fearful about things we don’t even know or have never experienced.

Having a go at your own Business or new things in your Business like marketing could be a bit scary but it could also have much greater benefits that outdo any fear you may have

Fear is something we imagine and we create in our own minds.

In order to overcome our fears we have to focus on the desired outcome of an event.

v  How would you like your Business to be?
v  Imagine spending your spare time doing everything that you love?
v  Think about how good it would feel if you could use cash to buy the car of your dreams?

Often our fears display themselves in our physiology which is also a key to overcoming them.

You would notice that in times when you are fearful you may display physical symptoms such as sweating, increased heart rate, shallow and fast breathing, anxiety and confusion. You may even choose not to be physically present to avoid the fear.

… So whenever you are feeling fearful of something pay attention to the way you are breathing.

Take 10 really good deep breaths.

Change your focus and visualise your perfect outcome and keep trying.

The best way to get over any fear is to walk straight through it and keep going. Get some great support and “have a go”

Why don’t you take the Road Less Travelled??

Are You Ready for Christmas – Using Emotion to Sell

Are You Ready For Christmas?

I know! It’s nearly that time of the year again.

Each year it seems like the shops are hanging their decorations earlier. My local shopping centre was playing Christmas Carols in October!!

In previous years I’ve been quite oblivious to the effect that has upon me but this year I have become more conscious of how it makes me feel. I’ve noticed that I start to feel a need to buy presents and make cards, think about plans for family get-togethers and food. It makes me want to spend money!

I’ve really become aware of the retailers plans to do exactly that! Make me feel a certain way and put pressure on me to take action.

As with anything in life its’ great when we have this kind of breakthrough in our understanding! It’s like a light went off in my head. Rather than allowing everything around me to bombard my senses and control the way I act I can now take back control for myself and decide what I want to do with my new found perspective. I’ve become inductive to the retail marketing ploys. I know what they are trying to get me to do and I am choosing to be aware and then to re-direct my attention elsewhere.

It got me thinking about business and in particular the strategies that are used to market or advertise a business. Emotion sells which is why advertisers try to suggest that their product will make you feel a certain way. You know the kind of ads I mean; creams that will make you feel 10 years younger.

Research also emphasises that people purchase on emotions and beliefs or paradigms that are stored in the subconscious part of the mind.

Paradigms is just a word for a set of beliefs but all this really means is that people will often make a decision to buy something based on how it makes them feel. (whether the product is actually beneficial or not)

How can this be related to your business?

When you are marketing or promoting your product or service in addition to listing the benefits which is a typical form of marketing, you can also use language to get your potential customer emotionally involved.

You may think that means it has to be a positive emotion but have you ever seen ads on TV for Funeral Insurance? They often play on a person’s fears to sell their funeral plans. You know the kind of thing; what would your family do to survive when you are gone?

I’m not really a big fan of using the fear based strategy but it helps us to understand the kind of thing we are being exposed to as consumers and perhaps using a milder form.

So marketing is not really about you and telling an audience about how many university degrees you have or what courses you have completed.  (although they are important)

It’s about your customer, how it makes them feel and how your product can benefit their life.

If you would like some help to market your business or just some ideas to help promote your business send me an email at Natalie@OrgansiedForYou.com.au and we can work out a specialised plan to breakthrough with your business.
